So yes, officially TH-U Slate Edition is a cut-down version of the Overloud's FULL TH-U but you really will hardly notice. You get 32 amps, including all the usual suspects as well as some rare boutique models.

Thank you for letting me know about this. Peavey's Revalver 4 Audio Cloning Technology was disappointing. I never felt like Revalver 4's distorted sounds had the high frequency right. It sounded to me nasally and shrill. I see Overloud is getting into the amp profiling business with this release and will be competing against the Revalver and Kemper. I liked TH3 but felt like option paralysis took over my mind every time I picked up the guitar. The TH-U YouTube demo where tube types and transistors are swapped out was not impressive. Everything else sounded interesting but you never know what kind of editing occurred between the time the tracks were laid down and that mix. A Voxish amp would make S-Gear 3 complete . Oh and some new cabinets. And a gain, boost or fuzz option before the preamps. |

I have TH-3 and I really like the sounds, but it takes a lot more tinkering than S-Gear plus the interface leaves a lot to be desired. I got S-Gear through the Slate Everything bundle which I was debating weather or not to renew this year, so I guess a stand alone license is in my future either way ***Update*** Mr Steven Slate himself said over on Gearslutz 'Regarding S-Gear, that is one of the most incredible sounding guitar amp plugins in the industry, and we have nothing but warm feelings about Scuffham Amps! Everything Bundle users can still use S-Gear until October 2019!' So it looks like after October it's out of the bundle. |

I really like Overloud products and have many of their plugins but their guitar Amp modeling plugin just never excited me. As a matter of fact, I downloaded the TH3 demo again recently to give it another try and that's what got me to move over to S-Gear. |

Same here. I've had Cakewalk TH3 for a while now, but just recently tried out the TH3 Full demo. Overall, it's a lot better than old sims I had (Pod Farm and Guitar Rig), but it still sounded a little muffled compared to real hardware (like Pod HD). After trying S-Gear, there's no contest. The sounds in this sim are easier to set up and of higher quality, like Pod HD hardware. Of all the sims I've tried, S-Gear doesn't even sound like software at all. I'm still interested in TH-U, though, as I was highly interested in the Kemper. We'll see if their new 'rig player' (aka 'overloud profiler') is worth all the fuss. Mostly though, I'm thinking it will be a gimmick that sounds nothing like the Kemper, while still having the same overall muffled sound. We will see. |

I bought TH3 during the Holidays when Sweetwater was offering it around half off. There's a lot of gear to go through and most presets are very bass heavy. Easy to tweak though and has a nice IR loader that lets you create custom folders with the ability to navigate through impulses once loaded. Also nice drag and drop for sorting presets. Basically has a lot of the features Mike is offering in 2.9. I prefer S-Gear more overall but TH3 is a bargain if you catch it on sale. I'll definitely upgrade to THU if the price for existing TH3 owners is reasonable. |
